Official: DL rising ‘very, very slowly’

The water level of Devils Lake was increasing at a “very, very slow pace,” even after the heavy rain experienced by the region in past few days, according to the Ramsey County, N.D., emergency manager, Tim Heisler.

“We are lucky that Devils Lake has not received so much rain,” Heisler said. “The major portion of it (rain water) has gone toward the east and south.”

Still, the county is keeping a close watch on the lake’s water level, Heisler said, given the National Weather Service forecast of showers in the Devils Lake area Monday night.

The lake elevation Monday was 1448.4 above sea level, or nearly 26 feet above the February 1993 level, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
