Islamabad’s assistance in Afghan peace process is “fundamental” to building an enduring US-Pak partnership, US President Donald Trump in a letter to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said.

“President Trump sent a letter to Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan requesting Pakistan’s full support for the US-led Afghan peace process and Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad’s upcoming trip to the region,” said a spokesperson of National Security Council, White House.
“In the letter, the President recognizes that Pakistan has the ability to deny the Taliban sanctuary on its territory,” the spokesperson said.
“The letter also makes clear that Pakistan’s assistance with the Afghan peace process is fundamental to building an enduring US-Pakistan partnership,” said the Spokesperson indicating that there has been no dilution on the stand of the US President on Pakistan with regard to its fight against terrorism.
