Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06), co-chairman of the Congressional India Caucus and Chairman of the House Democracy Partnership, released the following statement after yesterday’s ceremony welcoming Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the U.S. Capitol:
“It was an honor to host Prime Minister Modi at the Capitol and discuss ways to expand the US-India relationship on many levels, including defense, education, energy, and trade. This strategic partnership is critical to the long-term peace, freedom, and security of both nations in the 21st century. I am confident that Prime Minister Modi has the vision, experience, and expertise to lead India to economic prosperity, and I look forward to working with him closely in the coming years. The Prime Minister was kind enough to sign my map of India near the State of Gujurat, where he was Chief Minister, which I plan to proudly display in my Washington, DC office. I also had the privilege to present him with a painting by my wife, Elizabeth, entitled“Luminary Dome” to commemorate his visit.”
Congressman Roskam wrote a thank you letter to Prime Minister Modi following the visit explaining the symbolism behind “Luminary Dome”, which you can read here. You can download a high resolution copy of “Luminary Dome” here and the picture of PM Modi and Congressman Roskam here.
