An influential American think-tank on Tuesday urged the Obama administration to invite India to establish a liaison office at the NATO headquarters in Kabul.

“Invite India to establish a liaison office at NATO’s International Security Assistance Force Headquarters in Kabul to facilitate better coordination and collaboration,” said the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

In a 20-page report, titled “US-India Military Engagement,” CSIS suggested that India and the US needed to hold regular discussion on the situation in Afghanistan.

But the State Department said it was up to India to decide on the issue.
